Radical Commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and to Each Other:
To His Worship, His Word, and His Mission.

Children's Ministry

Prov 22:6
6 Train a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. Context (NET)

Our first and foremost mission in the children's program at Apostles is to teach children about the love of God through Jesus and the relationship they can have with Him.  This is demonstrated weekly by wonderful teachers in each of our classes.  We have 4 classes to offer children from ages birth through 6th grade.  They each work on a separate cirriculum to teach them about Jesus and the Bible.  The children are in Sunday School from the beginning of the service until the time of the Peace, when they join their family for communion and worship.

Nursery, ages birth to 2

In the Nursery, they are lovingly cared for.  As they grow and get more active there are many materials and books to keep their attention.  Many times they are read to and sung with and danced with as they are shown the love of God by our caring teachers.

Preschool Room, ages 3 and 4

In this room, we use the Beulah Enterprises cirriculum.  Biblical stories are told by using verbal and visual expression.  As the teacher tells the story, felt pieces are being placed upon a felt board for the children to see the story come to life.  There is great excitement during the lesson time as they await the felt story to unfold.

Godly Play, ages 3 and 4

This class uses the Faithweaver cirriculum from Group Publishing.  It's an interactive approach to learning the scriptures.  Along with the Bible story and a verse for the day, kids play games, use drama, and group activities to dig deeper into God's truth.  The lessons are age appropriate and fun for the teachers to bring them to life.

Hands On Bible - 3rd through 6th Grade

God's Faithweaver cirriculum is also used in this class.  In each session students participate in a variety of fun and memorable learning experiences that help them understand one important point.  As each activity unfolds, kids discover and internalize biblical truths.  Because they are doing, instead of just listening, kids remember what they have learned.

We as a team also want to thank the parents for entrusting your children to us throughout the year.  We see it as a great privilege!

 Summer School

For the coming summer, the classes will be switching around a little bit as they often do in the summer. We also welcome a few new teachers,

Jen Thompson and Paula Luciani in the Nursery,

Rachel Fossum in Kings Kids,

Mark Bilger and Valerie Fullerton in Hands On.

We are so excited to have you!

Our Nursery will remain the same with most of the same teachers rotating throughout July and August.  Preschool and Kings Kids will share about 4 weeks together and have their own classes about 4 weeks.  There will be a sign on the door indicating when it happens, but your Kings Kids should still begin in the service and leave when Thad or Micah directs.

And it’s exciting to tell you that this summer the Hands On class will continue meeting!  Mark and Valerie have graciously offered their time to teach this class.

It’s shaping up to be a great summer in the Children’s Program!

**One date that’s important to remember is September 2nd.  On this Sunday, the Children’s Program will be CLOSED except for Nursery.

I also want to mention that as Thad mentioned this past Sunday, we are beginning to become involved with a local mission opportunity called Kids Against Hunger.  More details to come about future packing times but if you are interested in learning more, please visit their website http://www.kidsagainsthungerct.com

If you have any questions, please contact me through the church office.

Have a great summer and the Lord bless you!
