New Candidates for Parish Council
At the 2020 Annual Meeting, on February 21st, Church of the Apostles will be electing three (3) new members to the Parish Council.
According to our By-laws, the congregation is asked to pray, and to submit nominations to our treasurer (Ryan Willers), by January, 24th.
Please ask the potential nominee if they would be willing to serve before submitting their name. Nominations will go through an assessment process detailed in full in Section 4.8 in the By-laws.
Here’s what’s most important to know.
1. The role of the Parish Council is to care for the church’s finances and property, and make recommendations to the Rector concerning the Church’s ministry.(1)
2. All candidates for the Parish Council must (2):
Have been Covenant Members for at least one year;
Have been confirmed or received by a Bishop of the Anglican Church of North America or another province of the Anglican Communion;
Be regular givers to the church finances;
Be at least 21 years old;
Have demonstrated qualities of leadership that have been recognized by the Church and the Parish Council;
Exhibit the personal qualities of an elder (1 Tim 3:1-7);Display godly character, practicing personal devotion in Bible study, prayer, and righteous living
Have demonstrated qualities of leadership
3. Time Commitment
Monthly meetings
Occasional special meetings
Annual fall Saturday retreat
We allow three missed meetings per year
Three years term of service
