Brian Murphy
Rector
The Very Rev. Brian Murphy has been serving as Rector of Church of the Apostles in Trumbull, Connecticut since 2016 and as Dean of the Northeast Deanery in the Diocese of Christ Our Hope since 2020. Originally from Binghamton, New York, Brian met his wife Tamara in high school, and they’ve been married for over 30 years. Together, they’ve raised four adult children—Andrew, Alex, Kendra, and Natalie—and are now proud grandparents to three grandchildren.
Before moving to Connecticut, Brian served as Executive Pastor at Christ Church in Austin, Texas, where he was ordained into the priesthood, and as Executive Administrator at his home church in the greater Binghamton area. He holds a Master of Arts in Religion from Redeemer Seminary in Dallas and a Master of Education from SUNY Cortland.
Outside of ministry, Brian enjoys boating, cheering on the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills, and spending time with his family.
Etienne Maree
Associate Rector
Etienne and his wife Beth were born and raised in South Africa before moving to Fairfield County in September 2021 where Etienne serves Church of the Apostles as Associate Rector with a focus on our Senior Youth and Worship ministries. Etienne has an undergrad in Architecture, a Masters in Divinity from Regent College in Vancouver, and served as an ordained Anglican Priest in South Africa for five years before coming to Connecticut. Etienne and Beth have two beautiful and energetic young children, Elsie and Theodore. In his spare time Etienne enjoys playing sports or walking nature trails.
Jan Buchanan
Deacon
Jan and her husband, Jeff, were founding members of Church of the Apostles and are active in all aspects of church life here. She has been serving Apostles as a deacon since her ordination in 2015. Jan's desire is to see the building up and maturing of the body of Christ and seeing lives transformed through intentional discipleship, bible study and fellowship. Jeff and Jan have been married for over 30 years, have two grown daughters, one son-in-law, and three grandchildren.
Amy Willers
Children’s Ministry Director
Amy has a heart for children and young families, especially after becoming a stay-at-home mom for her two children, Audrey and David. Amy led a MOPS in both Monroe and Trumbull for five years, and has published a children's book that introduces children to the grace that is available through Jesus. Amy and her husband, Ryan, have been attending Apostles since 2014 and currently live in Trumbull.
Jane Jackson
Office Administrator
Jane has a heart to serve at Apostles and was a Covenant member of Apostles for four years before she started working as the Parish Administrator. Jane loves the Lord and feels called to care for the congregation as well as manage the office. She loves serving in this capacity. She lives in Stratford and enjoys spending time with her sons, daughter-in-laws and three grandsons.
Walter Wittwer
Deacon
Walter and his wife Karen, married for 26 years, have been attending Church of the Apostles since 2005. They have two children, Ben (married to Lindsay) and Hannah (married to Bob) and three grandchildren (Jake, Frances and Esme). He has a BA in Psychology and Masters in Public Administration, Not-for-profit focus. He has worked, and continues to work, with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities for over 40 years, and volunteers with prisoners and post-abortion men. He was ordained to the diaconate in 2021.
