Our Mission
At Church of the Apostles, we believe that children are the church—not someday, but right now. They already have a spiritual life and gifts to offer our community. We welcome them to participate in the life and worship of the church in ways that are playful, meaningful, rooted in Christ, and held within a safe and nurturing environment.
We help children know God’s love through the stories of Scripture, especially the story of Jesus. Through story, silence, wonder, prayer, and creative response, we make space for children to encounter God and grow in the assurance that they are known, loved, and never alone.
We form children in Anglican faith and worship by welcoming them into the latter part of our main service, where they receive a blessing or communion, learn the rhythms of liturgy, and are gently invited into a sacramental way of life.
We invite children to participate in God’s work through prayer, generous giving, acts of service, and love for others. Partnering with parents, we help them notice how God is already present and at work in their ordinary lives.
Our Curriculum
Nursery & Preschool
Our youngest children are learning simple truths about who God is and who they are: God made me, delights in me, stays with me, knows me, and loves me. Through stories, stillness, wondering, and play, we’re helping children grow in trust and security with God.
Grades K–6
This year, we’re journeying through the big story of Scripture using The Jesus Storybook Bible. Each week includes stillness, story, wondering, and creative response as we learn to notice God and discover how every story points us toward Jesus.
Our hope: that every child knows they are known, loved, and welcomed by God.
Our Classes
Nursery/Preschool: Our nursery is open year-round for drop-off before the service. Children hear a simple Bible story or picture book, practice a short time of stillness, have a snack, and play together in a safe and nurturing environment.
Sunday School (Kindergarten–6th Grade): During the school year, children are dismissed after a time of worship for Sunday School, where we explore the story of Scripture through stillness, storytelling, wondering, and creative response. Our hope is to help children know God’s story, grow in their relationship with Jesus, and learn to notice God at work in their lives.
During the summer, children are welcome to remain in the worship service with their families. Clipboards, coloring pages, and crayons are available in the family corner of the narthex.
Our Teachers
Being a teacher at Church of the Apostles goes beyond childcare. It is an honor and privilege to teach the kids about our amazing God each Sunday. All volunteers must go through an application process, safety training, and background check.
Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me
and do not hinder them,
for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’
