This Week in Sunday School

Check out our weekly blog to keep up with what we are learning in Sunday School each week, as well as how to engage with your children with the lesson at home.

Our Mission

We believe that children are the church. As such, they participate in all aspects of our mission at Church of the Apostles, in their own unique and fun way, while in a safe and nurturing environment:

  • We teach God’s word through Bible stories and memorization. And, in partnering with parents, they are encouraged to apply it to their daily living — embracing for themselves the Gospel message of salvation.

  • They inherit the rich heritage of Anglican faith and worship by attending the latter part of the worship service and experiencing a blessing (or in taking communion themselves), by learning about liturgy, and being prompted towards sacramental living.

  • We help them proclaim the good news of Jesus to others through service, giving, and prayer.

Our Curriculum

All of our classes use The Gospel Project, a Christ-centered, chronological journey through Scripture. Over a three-year cycle, kids discover how the gospel unfolds from Genesis through Revelation—and how every story points to Jesus.

The Gospel Project for Kids helps children:

  • See the Big Story: The Bible is not just a collection of stories, but God’s unified story of redemption.

  • Read Scripture as Christ-Centered: Lessons and activities show how every part of the Bible points to Jesus.

  • Grasp Essential Christian Doctrines: Big Picture Questions and Answers help kids understand the core truths of the Christian faith.

  • Study the Whole Bible: Kids spend equal time in the Old and New Testaments, learning how God’s story fits together.

This year we are in the third year of the cycle, focusing on the life and ministry of Jesus—His birth, teaching, miracles, death, resurrection, and call to follow Him.

In addition, we also use Godly Play, a Montessori-inspired curriculum that invites children to enter into the stories of Scripture through storytelling, wondering questions, and creative response. To deepen our focus on Jesus’ life, we’ll supplement with Godly Play stories and give kids space to respond through special crafts and art projects designed to help them reflect and encounter God in hands-on ways.

Our hope is that children don’t just learn about Jesus, but begin to know and trust Him personally, finding their own place in God’s big story.

Our Classes

Nursery/Preschool: Our nursery is open year-round for drop off before the service. The children hear a story, have a snack, and play in a safe and nurturing environment.

Kids’ Church (Kindergarten - 6th grade): During the school year, our students are dismissed after a time of worship into three classes (K/1st, 2nd-4th, and 5th-6th) where they hear an age-appropriate, Bible-based, gospel-centered message. In the summer, they are welcome into the worship service with their families. Busy bags are available in the family corner of the narthex.

Our Teachers

Being a teacher at Church of the Apostles goes beyond childcare. It is an honor and privilege to teach the kids about our amazing God each Sunday. All volunteers must go through an application process, safety training, and background check.
