Spiritual Direction for Young Adults

At Church of the Apostles, we want our young adults to feel loved, cared for, and included, whether they are away from home or just trying to discern what’s next. Offering spiritual direction to them (whether it’s just a trial session or on a monthly basis) is one way we do this.

Spiritual direction is a time set aside once a month with a spiritual director to listen to God in the ways He is moving in your life. It is a time of rest, prayer, silence, and listening to the Holy Spirit, while sitting with a trusted companion. The benefits of spiritual direction are many, especially during times of transition and change. Sitting with a spiritual director can be helpful for all these ways and more:

  • A time for questions of identity and self-worth

  • A time to examine your values, beliefs, or doubts

  • A connection point to your home church (especially if you go away to college)

  • A space for quiet and silence in a world of studying, working, and busyness in general

  • A space for intentional rest
